With eight wheels adorning his green engine and an attached matching coal tender, Henry is easily one of the longest Railway engines on the Island of Sodor. He is also one of the oldest engines, being featured as one of the three original tank engines in Rev. W Awdry's stories along with Edward and Gordon. He wears the number 3 and loves being green as it is the color of the trees! Henry has been portrayed as a nature lover who tries to protect trees from being felled whenever he can. Henry is a little sickly though, getting stressed out and taking ill fairly soon which is why he fears being out in the rain. He once needed special coal to run properly. But now after acquiring his new shape and color, Henry looks and feels better and is able to match the younger engines in every turn of the wheel!
