Gordon the Big Express Engine

Gordon is one of the senior most engines on Sir Topham Hatt's railways, and has featured as one of the original 3 engines alongside Edward and Henry in Rev Awdry's stories. He is also the most powerful and the fastest engine of all. Gordon is aware of his virtues and his abilities and that makes him a little pompous! He is arrogant and likes to show off and thinks pulling freight cars is beneath him. He loves the rush of being an Express engine on the main lines. Gordon's importance grew manifold as he was chosen to be the engine to pull the Queen's royal train in 1953. Gordon's pride is only tempered by the fact that he gets to wear a no.4, while Thomas the tank wears a 1 and the 'weak' Edward wears no.2. However, despite his flaws, Gordon is also a kind-hearted engine full of friendly advice for younger engines. Bring home the classic wooden toy train of Gordon, the Big Blue express engine!
